Purpose and Scope of the role

The position is a Counterparty Risk Data Analyst role within RISK Market & Financial Institutions (“RISK MFI”).

RISK MFI provides the Senior Management of the Group, of the RISK Function and of Corporate & Institutional Banking (“CIB”) with full transparency and dynamic analysis and monitoring of market, counterparty, liquidity risks originated and managed by CIB GM and of credit risks on Financial Institutions to assist them in their risk decision making and monitoring.

The Counterparty Risk Data analyst belongs to the RISK MFI Digital team. The team oversees the development of tools to redefine and industrialise the many processes of the RISK Global Markets department. Projects have a strong focus on the use of new technologies to build tools that improve the risk management of the bank, with a strong focus on improving the user experience and making better use of the vast amount of available data.  

We are looking for a profile with some proven data analysis skills who has an appetite to simplify processes using technology, who can rapidly understand new market or counterparty risk concepts and metrics and provide quantitative or statistical analysis about a certain scope.

The role requires agility to onboard oneself onto new processes to support their evolution, and industrialisation.

The candidate needs to be comfortable working in “project mode” and regularly iterating improvements into the team’s assets.

  • Global Markets, the capital markets division of BNP Paribas’ Corporate & Institutional Banking, is a powerhouse delivering top-tier solutions across asset classes. Your Main Activities Are
  • This Institutional Flow Rates Sales role is part of the MAST Sales team for Global Macro (Market Access Sales Team), responsible for the coverage of institutional clients across the world for Global Macro products (specifically G10 Rates)
  • The role primarily entails providing efficient market access to liquidity, pricing and execution to clients, as well as providing them with various BNPP resources
  • Main responsibilities include:
  • Business and clients
    • Providing institutional clients with access to BNPP G10 Rates products (cash bonds, interest rate derivatives, repo)
    • Distribution of market content leveraging on BNPP tools, advising clients about short term market changes, liquidity mismatches and trade opportunities
    • Analyse and sell BNPP transactional and product capabilities leveraging on relevant data available (hit ratios, market trends, volumes), tailoring those to client needs
    • Participate in the account management process (onboarding, KYC files, credit limits, enablements, …)
  • Data & Analytics
    • Leverage on the work done by BNPP Markets 360 and the G10 Rates Desk Analysts teams to provide clients with updated and high added value information
    • Monitor, manage and market BNPP trading capabilities and performance
    • Proactively focus on digitalisation and automation to improve not only internal tools, but the client’s overall experience and the bank’s ability to grow market share
    • Use internal (CRM Lite, Tableau) and external (Coalition) sources to continuously benchmark the team and the coverage of the client
  • Internal Relationships
    • Work in partnership with other sales teams (macro, regional sales, e-sales) to deliver the whole of BNPP’s capabilities to clients
    • Work closely with various teams within the bank across different areas – be it trading, middle office, back office, risk, XVA, etc, and build relationships with the various stakeholders
    • Collaborate, liaise and engage with other GBLs sharing best practices relating to efficient market access and client needs
  • Conduct and development
    • Ethical conduct and decision-making are expected in the role
    • Respect fundamental risk concepts, abiding by the Key Front Offices Responsibilities and Global Macro Principles and Guidelines
    • Understand the market, credit, operational, compliance, legal, regulatory and reputational risks of transactions and relationships

Profile and Skills to Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Maths
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Finance or Economics

    • Strong understanding of Bond Markets and ideally experience in derivativeS

  • The Pricing Analyst is responsible for liaising with many locations worldwide and with internal teams (Sales and Product experts in locations, Operations and Billing teams) to analyse and compile data to produce a proposal for validation and subsequent client communication. Also, this professional is responsible for reviewing, analysing and producing proposals that aim to increase our business’s competitiveness and profitability, the pricing analyst must be a self-driven person with team spirit that takes pleasure in managing client specific pricing requests

Your Main Activities Are


  • Perform product pricing, preparing costs and revenue forecasts by collecting, analysing and compiling both quantitative as qualitative data from different sources and provide and/or present results to senior management and relevant stakeholders (Client Line, Client Development, Product etc.)
  • Compare the outcomes of different pricing strategies and assure the corresponding data is reported and stored to allow future audit and monitoring
  • Collaborate with the global teams across Client Development, local Client lines, finance and billing teams to determine how to price products effectively
  • Apply statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability
  • Forecast revenue and market share based on market trends, production costs, profit margins, and variation on volumes
  • Recommend pricing strategies that align closely with market trends and identifying new and innovative solutions to enhance the teams output
  • Develop dynamic pricing tools to effectively respond to changing market needs and trends
  • Keep informed on pricing analysis methods and industry trends
  • Implement market research and benchmarking analysis at global and local level, to feed Client Lines and Client Development with market studies, competitive positioning, regulatory research and to identify client specificities/requirements (in liaison with Market Intelligence team)
  • Act as liaison between Client Development and local Client Line / product experts
